"Cancun Up, Gulf Coast Under"

July 8th 2008 16:49
Amazingly, America has more than other countries, but lacks in giving to American citizens. Hurricane Wilma hit Cancun, Mexico in 2005 and Cancun has stood rebuilt and fully operating again since 2006. This is a great accomplishment considering that Hurricane Katrina destroyed the Gulf Coast, New Orleans, and affected surrounding areas in 2005, and New Orleans and the Gulf Coast still remain "ghost towns." America has time to cost America billions of dollars fighting a senseless war, millions of dollars to pay oil executives and professional athletes, but not a second of time or any money to contribute to rebuliding the livelihood of the American citizens' affected by this event. Seems logical? Not at all, just typical America.

"Defining Citizenship"

July 2nd 2008 15:54
Many of Americans' jobs and construction contracts have been affected by the acceptance of lower wages and lower contract bids from illegal workers. So should employers who employ illegal immigrants be penalized?

It would've been logical to enforce the law before the American unemployment rate became an issue. We have allowed too many leniencies with the illegal population and it is insane. Why does our government decide to start "prevention plans" after the problems occur? Why are all of the laws of our country so outdated and manipulated?

What this says about our country is that the companies and housing authorities that we have helped and are helping grow by the spending of our earnings would rather employ and house an illegal immigrant who may be using multiple social security numbers and residing several illegals in a place of residence than to give a convicted felon who is a U.S. citizen the opportunity to gain a decent paying job and place to reside.

"The Price To Live"

June 30th 2008 17:38
Lets take a look at our country. We call it the land of the free and of course the home of the brave. But are we free? Are we brave? The answers to these questions are simple---yes and no. We are brave enough not to stand up to a government that has been destroying us forever and free enough to stay captive in our own country.

Gas prices, grocery prices, unemployment rates, foreclosure rates, etc are at an all-time high and minimum wage is at a stand still and has been forever, but now that the world is in a crisis someone decided to take a closer look.

Allow me to draw you a closer view..........................

*The amounts in () are the total increases during the time frame stated.

I'll point out the facts---> January 1978-April 1990 wages: $2.65-$3.80 ($1.15)
April 1990-April 1991 wages: $3.80-$4.25(.45)
April 1991-October 1996 wages: $4.25-4.75(.50)
October 1996-September 1997 wages: $4.75-$5.15(.40)
September 1997-July 2007 wages: $5.15-$5.85(.70)
July 2007-July 2008 wages: $5.85-$6.55(.70)

This says that our labor has been worth increasing $3.90 over a 30 year period. If the sharp minded individuals that have been taking home hundreds of thousands of dollars and millions yearly were as bright as their attire presents them to be, saving the world would have been a simple task, if minimum wage would have increased as it should have in the beginning.

Increasing wages-->hefty paychecks-->more spending-->business growth-->more jobs--> steady growth and success.

Don't believe me??----An increase of simply .35 per year for 30 years would have increased wages $10.50, an increase of .50 would have increased wages $15.00 over 30 years. Big difference in those figures and our $3.90 value.

I know---there are many things that you have wanted for that you could have, if only you were paid fairly.

Simple plan? But 30 yrs too late....
