Paris Hilton: How low can you go?
August 31st 2006 12:14
And to think I thought all hope was lost in a world filled with blow up barbie dolls. It turns out that Paris Hilton’s debut (and possibly final) album has sunk right to the bottom of the tank.
In its first week it sold a dismal 75 thousand copies in the US. Just to give you a small scope on things, Christina Aguilera’s album debuted the same week and scored 320 thousand sold copies. This has lowered expectations for the hotel giant’s daughter and projections for the second week of sales are only 30 thousand.
If there’s one thing worse than a mumbling donkey (50 Cent), it’s a celebrity with no talent what so ever aka. Paris Hilton. Had she approved her home video for sale, she would’ve had a much bigger hit. Okay, so maybe she does have some ‘so-called’ talent. Too bad I won’t be experiencing any of it.
What I find hilarious is the fact that Paris’ label expects even less from international sales because she is unable to tour. Do you know why she’s unable to do so? Come on, take a guess, it’s an easy one. Alright, the reason she can’t tour is because she can’t sing live. I got this from some pretty damn, good sources alright.
But I’ll cut her a little slack. I’ll admit that I liked the first single, ‘Stars Are Blind’. Forgive me; I didn’t realize it was a Paris song. When I found out it was performed by a blonde whore I washed my ears out with nail polish remover. To this day, I still feel unclean. But hey, the song is some-what Reggae, and I LOOOOOVE Reggae. Bob Marley R.I.P.
In a world of greed, corruption and poverty, it is refreshing to see some justice being dealt.
Take care and peace out…

What don't you like about it?

I DO like her first single. Though it's the song, itself, that I like, rather than the person singing it.
The Washington Post actually reported that she will not be doing any tours because she cannot sing live. Tell me, does someone who can't sing live deserve a successful album?

Two thoughts:
-- She has done nothing to get to the top?
If your criterion of deserving is hard work... It's quite possible that she does do hard work. For example, if she spent a lot of time producing that album, would that change your mind? Or what about if she spends a lot of time each day on the Paris empire (she claims to, at any rate -- claims to be up from 6am-10pm, 11pm working on the Paris brand).

I don't see why not. If I can only produce a good work of art (not saying hers is) when I'm by myself, isn't it still a good work of art?
In fact, I'd go further. If I can only produce a good song in a studio environment, with whatever editing, multiple takes, special effects, coaching, producing is used -- well, isn't that still a good song also?

Paris is not a singer. People like her undermine the struggling musicians in this world.
Plus her album hass some of the best producers that money can buy. Some of the best underground artists produce for themselves. So let's see... is there more hard working in paying top notch producers some of Daddy's hard earned cash??? Or working on a studio album yourself, with youru own creative ideas, etc etc....
As far as signing out with peace out while spreading hate? Hey your right in this instance. I never through about that, but the irony is great is it not?
Note: not all my posts bash on celebrities. I've praised a some people in my short time on Urban Train.
While I don't agree with your view of Paris' fame, fortune and hard work... it's great debating with yah.. I love it hehe.
Take care and peace out...
