New Beatles Album
October 6th 2006 08:37
I don’t care if The Beatles are as urban as an albino camel living in Alaska; they are still music gods.
So I thought I’d mention their new album. What? No bull I’m serious. You still don’t believe me? Lenon and Harrison are making great tracks, up there, in musical heaven.
Okay, that was uncalled for. Sorry R.I.P. Lennon and Harrison.
As reported by the BBC and the Sydney Morning Herald, a new album of previously unreleased songs will be released next month.
The album is produced by the Beatles original producer, and downright legend, George Martin. His son, Giles Martin, who’s also been working on the album, says that they’re trying to "achieve the same intimacy we get when listening to the master tapes at Abbey Road".
The unreleased tracks are originally set to be the backing soundtrack to the Cirque du Soleil show called “Love” that will show in Las Vegas in the near future.
Martin has the permission of Paul McCartney, Ringo Star, Yoko Ono Lennon, and Olivia Harrison to release the album. It’s good to see Yoko finally come to her senses.
"What people will be hearing on the album is a new experience, a way of reliving the whole Beatles musical life span in a very condensed period." says Martin.
You might think The Beatles have suddenly gone all Tupac on us, but this is a special and rare event in the music entertainment universe. The pioneers for, virtually, every style of today’s popular music are making a comeback.
I see this album as two things. First of all, a treat and a final goodbye to all The Beatles’ fans who have supported them (some screaming their clothes off while asking McCartney to marry them), and second, a reminder to today’s youth about where the music they currently listen to builds upon.
I hope that, for people who do not know The Beatles work very well; these new releases would garner interest for the best band in history.
Take care and peace out.
