"Felon or Foreign"
June 24th 2008 15:46
Today we have millions of Americans that have felony criminal records, some of which are minor crimes while others are major. What happens when an individual who commits a crime is labeled a felon? I'm not speaking of habitual offenders, I am talking about first time felons who in most cases are scarred for life by one mistake. The rights that our ancestors worked so hard to obtain are thrown out of the window and you are now foreign in your own country.
Yes, you are considered a tax paying United States citizen, but your right to bear arms to protect the property that you have worked to acquire is null and void. Your right to vote for who you would prefer to handle the country where your tax dollars are being consumed no longer exists, and majority of job applications are going to ask --- "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?"
Why are the records of criminals with the exclusion of murderers, rapists, and pedafiles who have lived a crime-free life for five years not sealed?
The Bill of Rights has no stipulations, in other words it doesn't say you have the right to bear arms except for those who commit felonies. This is really ridiculous and unfair. How can an individuals' rights be stripped? How is this logical? How have we as a people allowed this? How can you expect a person who has committed a crime to make a living when you won't hire him or her based on their conviction?
But why are we not as hard on the sick individuals who destroy the lives of our children---pedafiles? Why doesn't it ask on job applications---"Are you a sex offender?" This is something that has puzzled me for some time, but these are the laws of the land from which we have built and from which we now see thousands of illegal immigrants taking over without consequences.
