Artist Spotlight: Cassie

With a My Space website that has garnered up over 3 million hits, Cassie has affirmed her place in the upper echelon of female R&B vocalists.
The 19 year old grew up around music. She and her brother were born to a trumpet player and a pianist and her parents always encouraged her to follow her dreams.
Her first stage performance was a musical adaptation of ‘Snow White’ in the 5th grade. You’d think someone as beautiful as her would get the main role, though funnily enough, she played one of the dwarfs. Which one did she play? The heck if I know, not even she remembers who it was.
In the next two years, Cassie was singing, acting, dancing and composing at school and by 14 she was modeling. No surprises there; damn she’s fine.
At the age of 16, she realised her dream as a singer/composer and focused less on her modeling. It was her meeting with Rockwilder (producer of Methodman, Redman and Pink) that gave her the motivation to strive for her dreams.
She graduated from high school in 2004 and, through a friend, met a young producer by the name of Ryan Leslie. The meeting sparked off a close friendship which took Cassie to the recording studios of Casablanca Records.
Casablanca is home to Tommy Mottola. This is the guy who discovered Mariah Carey, so you could imagine his eye for talent. After hearing Cassie’s demos, he signed her. And the rest is history baybeeh!!!
Today, Cassie is constantly played in R&B clubs. Her massive hit ‘Me and You’ has made her a star.
With only one real hit under her belt, it is difficult to say whether she’s the real deal. All I can say is she’s got the talent and the looks. Hopefully that’s all she needs, because this gem is a beautiful little rock.
