Busta getting busted?
August 26th 2006 09:22
Busta Rhymes was reportedly arrested on the 19th of August.
He was arrested for five counts. Damn that’s a lot. These include: two counts of assault in the third degree; one count of attempted assault in the third degree; one of harassment in the second degree; and one of weapon possession; that being a machete. The apparent assault was on man who spat on his car after a performance in Amsterdam on August 12.
The response by Busta’s attorneys weren’t exactly quick and swift, but when they finally gave comment they came up with this:
“This is payback by the NYPD.”
I’m no lawyer, but I could hardly call that an airtight case. The “payback” refers to a previous case involving the murder of Busta’s bodyguard, Israel Ramirez, in Febuary 2006. Busta Rhymes refused to cooperate with the police when it came to the investigation.
Oh, and it gets worse. A month later, Busta and another bodyguard of his were sued by a fan who claimed to be beaten up by the two men after asking for an autograph. Poor Busta… he’s always getting busted.
So did the police really arrest Busta for not cooperating with the Ramirez murder investigation? Who knows? The NYPD refused to say whether or not they interrogated him about the February incident during his recent detention.
Busta Rhymes has been set free on the basis of… um… his fame. Now that’s what I call justice!!! He will be facing court on October 24.
So here we are, in the 21st century, reading about ghetto assaults and police corruption. Just another day in paradise, right?
Take care and peace out…
