"The Price To Live"

June 30th 2008 17:38
Lets take a look at our country. We call it the land of the free and of course the home of the brave. But are we free? Are we brave? The answers to these questions are simple---yes and no. We are brave enough not to stand up to a government that has been destroying us forever and free enough to stay captive in our own country.

Gas prices, grocery prices, unemployment rates, foreclosure rates, etc are at an all-time high and minimum wage is at a stand still and has been forever, but now that the world is in a crisis someone decided to take a closer look.

Allow me to draw you a closer view..........................

*The amounts in () are the total increases during the time frame stated.

I'll point out the facts---> January 1978-April 1990 wages: $2.65-$3.80 ($1.15)
April 1990-April 1991 wages: $3.80-$4.25(.45)
April 1991-October 1996 wages: $4.25-4.75(.50)
October 1996-September 1997 wages: $4.75-$5.15(.40)
September 1997-July 2007 wages: $5.15-$5.85(.70)
July 2007-July 2008 wages: $5.85-$6.55(.70)

This says that our labor has been worth increasing $3.90 over a 30 year period. If the sharp minded individuals that have been taking home hundreds of thousands of dollars and millions yearly were as bright as their attire presents them to be, saving the world would have been a simple task, if minimum wage would have increased as it should have in the beginning.

Increasing wages-->hefty paychecks-->more spending-->business growth-->more jobs--> steady growth and success.

Don't believe me??----An increase of simply .35 per year for 30 years would have increased wages $10.50, an increase of .50 would have increased wages $15.00 over 30 years. Big difference in those figures and our $3.90 value.

I know---there are many things that you have wanted for that you could have, if only you were paid fairly.

Simple plan? But 30 yrs too late....

"Cast Out by Homosexuality"

June 26th 2008 18:32
It is 2008 and sexual orientation is a hot topic!!! But WHY???

Why is it important to the world whether or not two consenting adults of the same sex are in a relationship? I know, I know---it's a sin. But have we forgotten that "no sin is greater than the other" and most importantly---"judge not." If all the homophobics in the world actually believe that adultery, hatred, murder, etc is going to get you into the pearly gates before a homosexual---YOU'RE INSANE.

The United States of America---"The Land of the Free"---says that homosexuals are to work, pay taxes, and be unrecognized.... So what hapens to the married man who sleeps around on his wife with a man or the married woman who sleeps around on her husband with a woman or couples who are swingers??? For each of these situations, the same rules and questions should apply as they do for open homosexuals.

1. Parenting---will they make good parents or should they be allowed to adopt?
2. Legal Marriage---how is the marriage legal when you are engaging in homosexual acts?
3. Insurance and Benefits---how can you receive benefits and you are engaging in homosexual acts?

Why should people be treated unequal by their attraction to the same sex? But we live in a place that says we are all equal under the eyes of God. If this true---Live By It. The choices that two ADULTS choose to make are just that---ADULT decisions, but who knows what's right or wrong when we live in a world that allows convicted pedafiles to appear on Dr. Phil and tell their stories.

"Felon or Foreign"

June 24th 2008 15:46
Today we have millions of Americans that have felony criminal records, some of which are minor crimes while others are major. What happens when an individual who commits a crime is labeled a felon? I'm not speaking of habitual offenders, I am talking about first time felons who in most cases are scarred for life by one mistake. The rights that our ancestors worked so hard to obtain are thrown out of the window and you are now foreign in your own country.

Yes, you are considered a tax paying United States citizen, but your right to bear arms to protect the property that you have worked to acquire is null and void. Your right to vote for who you would prefer to handle the country where your tax dollars are being consumed no longer exists, and majority of job applications are going to ask --- "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?"

Why are the records of criminals with the exclusion of murderers, rapists, and pedafiles who have lived a crime-free life for five years not sealed?

The Bill of Rights has no stipulations, in other words it doesn't say you have the right to bear arms except for those who commit felonies. This is really ridiculous and unfair. How can an individuals' rights be stripped? How is this logical? How have we as a people allowed this? How can you expect a person who has committed a crime to make a living when you won't hire him or her based on their conviction?

But why are we not as hard on the sick individuals who destroy the lives of our children---pedafiles? Why doesn't it ask on job applications---"Are you a sex offender?" This is something that has puzzled me for some time, but these are the laws of the land from which we have built and from which we now see thousands of illegal immigrants taking over without consequences.

"Wireless Scams"

June 23rd 2008 18:25
Cellular phones are now the top communication gadgets in the world, but are cellular phone providers taking advantage of consumers?

Well of course they are just as every other company has with their service and/or product. Cellular phone providers are very sly about their tactics. It is a simple procedure.

*You pick the phone and plan
*You sign a contract agreement (usually 2 year contract)
This contract promises continued service or in the company's case--continued payments

Most companies offer insurance in case of a damaged or lost/stolen phone and you pay a price per month per phone with the acknowledgement that once a claim is filed and a deductible is paid that your phone will be replaced with the same phone or a comparable phone.

Sounds simple and fair? Well it's not. What happens when you file the claim and your claim is denied??? That's right, you are denied a cell phone and you've already went without an operable phone for a couple days. Then after several attempts to contact management via email and phone, you are told that you will not be honored a phone for which you have had insured for over a year. You are then given choices which are to either extend your contract and receive a new phone or buy a refurbished phone (depending on availability at the store nearest you) for $70-$150 or cancel your contract for $175 or more.

These are all the underlyings of many wireless providers and to top it off, they ask that you return your broken phone or trade it in for a $10-$20 credit. This is done so that they can refurbish your old phone and resell it. So are we purchasing phones or renting them?

"To Protect and Serve"

June 20th 2008 15:00
You all know the slogan, it's very familiar!!! It is the slogan of all of our police service men and women across the U.S. --- "To Protect & Serve." But are all of our police officers living up to their oath of honor? Well of course not, many of our police officers are abusing their power and it has gotten outrageous.

We have all witnessed police attacks via television over the years, but these are only the lucky few that were captured on video. The latest example of the police's abuse of power was the beating of transexual, Duanna Johnson at a Memphis police station. This was not only a case of police brutality but a hate crime by an officer of one of our countries' law enforcement teams. If cops are allowed to toss quadriplegics like Brian Sterner from their wheelchair (Florida) or shoot unarmed men like Sean Bell over fifty times (New York), then what will they do next? There's a big difference between enforcing the law and the use of excessive force.

I have witnessed several occurrences over the years of officers' abusing their power and I have been a victim of their works. But what happens when you are falsely arrested or rightly arrested and beaten by officers while under arrest? Nothing in most cases, because of the immunity police are granted or in my view---'a cop out for wrong doing'. But before all victims of police dishonor - lawyer up, I advise proper authorities to take a closer look at the works of their officers before racial profiling, the use of excessive force, illegal searches, and the use of derogatory and degrading language begin to cost.

As we all know every four years we vote to elect the individual who will serve as the President of the United States of America, and not once in history has this process ever been a calculation in the number of African-American/Black or Caucasian/White voters that are voting for either candidate.

Why is this important????
